Sri Lanka Hambantota Port BTOS Project

On July 16, 2018, the BTOS system, designed and developed by CMHIT, was officially launched in Hambantota Port, Sri Lanka.

Located on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, the port of Hambantota is a prime location within 10 miles of the main waterways from Asia to Europe. It is also an important node along the Belt and Road Initiative. The port of Hambantota is a full-scale deep-water port in Sri Lanka. The current construction of the port will be completed in three phases. The first and second phases have been completed, with 10 berths and a length of 3,487 meters. The berth is specially designed for container and bulk goods, general cargo, ro-ro cargo and liquid bulk cargo. The dock and navigation channel are 17 meters deep, making the port of Hambantota a deep-water port capable of handling mega ships.

Before using system-wide production management, Hambantota Port used a manual operation-based production management model, which has many disadvantages such as many human errors, slow customer response and production efficiency bottlenecks. Through the use of CMHIT’s BTOS system, the operation management of Hambantota Port has become more standardized, agile and intelligent, and the external service has become more user-friendly. All improvements have laid a solid foundation for Hambantota Port's future business growth and business expansion.
